many congrats -if you are looking for crew can I suggest Capn Big House USN with first mate Mr Sunshine !!! we may come cheap but will need paying in beer......

in all seriousness, even though money is no object you will get more for your dollar buying an existing home , there are some great deals to be had -and of course SoflGal is the lady to find them for you.

Have you also considered Manasota Key a bit further south ? There are some lovely homes on that road and it is very quiet.

check the MLS there are stunning homes in Florida once you get into the million dollar bracket - we will be watching for you on Cribs !!

I can also make sure we have the most modern amenities, as well as home security. How easy would it be to get permits for something like this?
I'm now having a little trouble believing you are for real, sorry....

I like Beach Access #5. Of course the parking there isn't that great. Some of those beach parking areas / access beach points provide for very little parking.

Yup, I'm thinking this is the "Dixon Cox" troublemaker from yesterday... I should have noticed the similarities last night before I took the time to post.

There are many "quiet" millionaires living in this area and not all of them live in gated homes/communities. Have you ever read "The Millionaire Next Door"? very interesting book.

Warren Buffet, one of the richest men in the world, still lives in the same house he bought umpty years ago and drives a beater.

The thing is, once you move here no one knows how much money you have, unless you tell them.
Of course now is a good time to buy a house but you may not need all the security and gates you think you do. Lots of rich people title their homes in a corporate name so you can't tell who owns it. Only their gardener or maid knows who lives there.

If it were me I'd visit the area and take a boat tour and a small airplane fly-over and see what places look cool. Siesta Key sounds like your kinda place for your young adults. Just be careful they don't get into the wrong crowd with your money buying drugs. Money can destroy as well as support.
