of course sees the 8th anniversary of one of the great tragedies of our time.

forget what has gone on since -that sad day will live with us forever.

As America stops to remember those who died -your friends in the UK share your thoughts.

Gone but not forgotten...........

I was living in Whitfield Estates at the time, right across from the SRQ airport. I remember the planes "not" flying. I remember watching the news when it was happening in NYC. I remember seeing the President look clueless (who actually was just a few minutes away, at a school in Sarasota). My sons had just been to NYC to visit family the month before & actually were at the Towers. God Bless those who perished and the families who've had to go on without their loved ones.

Hey Pete,
Thanks for the thoughts, I really hits a lot of us pretty hard.
I was working about 20 minutes away from the Pentagon when it happened. I was at work, got a call from a friend of mine, and turned on the television to watch the second plane hit the second tower. Many of us weren't sure what was going to happen next! My cousin flies United as a flight attendant out of Los Angles, and I was worried about her, because she flys all over.
I will be saying prayers for them tomorrow for sure!

My thoughts and prayers are with those that lost so much, definatly a day never forgotten. It a reminder of how as a nation we are alot more fragile than we relize. Life is short, live, love and be happy.

I was at work that day in NY and the 11th floor of our office contains all windows with a full view of the Manhattan skyline. I remember seeing the flames and then the tremendous amount of smoke billowing from the towers. I'll never get that image out of my head. About a month later, I had to meet with a client whose office directly overlooked the WTC site. That's another image that I can't forget. God bless the souls who lost their lives that day. May they never be forgotten.

we know someone who was working for Sarasota county then and part of the Bush travelcade back to the airport that day--not police or emergency services but he was in the middle of the convoy and thought this is probably not the best place to be today--and took himself out of line and went home...
not funny really-- so many others had no choice--
such a groundswell of support from so much of the world's people then--and see how we have lost that empathy now...that is another sad moment...

I remember well i was working in my old office and it sudenly became very quiet. we made our way to the Chairmans office and watched the events unfold. It was so surreal almost like watching a movie. I have a dear friend on long Island and couldnt reach him on the phone. I had also been up the towers many times, like others I am sure you think 'that could have been me'.

I visited with him in the following November for a weekend and onthe Sunday went into the city on my own. AT 8am New York was so quiet and peaceful but the site of gorund zero was incredibly moving. Unlike many who like to bash the US we love it and consider it our second home.

Those scenes will stay in the memory forever......................

I was awakened by some **** that I went home with from the bars the night before. She kept saying planes were crashing. I didn't go to classes that day, and I was supposed to go to a Jimmy Buffett concert that night, but of course the concert was postponed. Instead I sat and watched Fox News Channel and did bong hits all day long.

p.s. I ended up marrying that ****.

Thank you for your thoughts. And thank you for joining us in this never-ending battle against those who wish to destroy us.
I remember that moment when I heard the news. I remember the patient I was working on at the time.
As we go about our usual business today, we should stop for a moment and think about all the innocent lives lost that day and all those lives lost in preventing another terrorist attack.
