Now, I know a lot of you who are moving to FL have heard terrible things to the effect of...the schools are bad, there's so much crime, no city water...whatever....

NOW..GET THIS one...having worked with the same company for almost five years & moved, oh, let's say, 4x since then....I have never, ever, ever been able to get a reimbursement check .... at the correct address .... from my insurance carrier, who by the way, is not based in Florida....therefore, my point is....

You can be anywhere & still get mail delivered to an address that no longer exists/and/or where you haven't lived for at least three years...i.e. accountability is not just unbelieveably bad in Florida....it can be anywhere.

I actually asked the person on the phone what state they were in...turns out, not. They were in the, can it be? Phillipines. I told them I hoped they were being paid in euros; damn well knowing they're following a script of some sort when they make their replys...oh. TGIF!

Well, at least someone has some good spirits and knows that things like this happen everywhere even in other countries! You are too funny!

I keep getting mail for the family who moved out of my house in 1991. Fortunately one of the "kids" is a lawyer whose name I recognized on a sign in Venice so if it looks important (like 1099s!) I'll send them to the office.

I know that companies are attempting to save money with call centers placed in other countries, but I find it frustrating to deal with someone that is trained to follow a script, instead of listening. I no longer buy from some companies because they moved their call/support centers over seas. The hours I have spent attempting to get some minor issue resolved, while the other end of the line tried to fit me into a box that matched their call flow chart are hours that I didn't need to waste.
Sorry about the rant, but you touched a nerve.

I share your frustration with this, but I think you will find most US based support centers are trained the same way. It's a cost effective business model, since you have fewer higher level support people to employ, especially if the majority of the support issues can be resolved by someone reading a script. I remember when we had Time Warner for cable here in Manatee county. Anytime we called with any issue their first response was always to unplug the cable box, and plug it back in

UPDATE:

The first dental reimbursement check is in the mail to my correct address.

The second dental reimbursement check (I had cleaning & xrays done in Sept. before my dental coverage ended on 9/30)....BELIEVE IT OR NOT was, once again, sent to the three year old address that no longer exists!

Luckily, I have called to tell them they might as well stop payment on that one too, it will be floating in the lost letter labyrinth for the next few weeks & they might as well take this time to re-issue and mail it to my correct address where a mailbox actually exists.

I am so over this.

When the CSR told me that it wouldn't happen anymore; I decided to keep it to myself that my coverage ended last month. I just want my reimbursement.
