Just moved down here and closing on a house in a little over a month. Need to replace the dishwasher, range, microwave and fridge. Where is the best place for selection and price?

Any suggestions for where to get good deals on Flooring?

I so thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge.

We just bought a refrigerator and stove from Lowe's. We are also replacing carpet in two Bed Rooms and have contracted with Lowe's to do this job. Lowe's gave us the best price for what we were looking for vs Home Depot, about $200 cheaper in our opinion. Lowe's and Home Depot are very good resources for the low to mid-range appliances and carpeting. You can also check out De Sears in Venice sometimes they will have a good bargain or two. For a Counter top Micro Wave check out Wal-Mart we picked up for our Tiki Bar there.

For appliances you need to try craigslist.org. Yesterday I picked up a brand new Maytag washer and dryer for $175 off CL for a rental of mine. There's some great deals out there. Not sure about where to go for flooring.

Lots of people do use Craigslist and find fantastic values. I have heard that a lot of people are gutting their houses of appliances before foreclosure and selling the appliances, etc on Craigslist. (I don't want to get into an argument on the ethics here.) Consequently, there are a lot of good appliances listed there by people who may have just finished rehabbing their houses.

Some like Lowe's because of their low price guarantee. I shopped one of the big ones...Lowes or Home Depot, didn't like the price and terms I got on flooring and on a whim went down the street to a "Mom and Pop" and got a fantastic price on flooring. I guess it's a hit or miss (?).

Unfortunately a lot of people are struggling. There is going to be another big batch of foreclosures coming to market soon I think. When I come down I'm going to be looking for a new (or like new) refrigerator/freezer, and a chest type freezer. I will check out craigs list.
