I have just received notification in the past three weeks that there are no longer the master's programs for social work, nor mental health and rehabilitation. Now, just found out they've dropped the bachelor's in social work as well.

I find the above quite strange; Sarasota & Bradenton need all the counseling each county can get according to the news and arrest records for each county.

What exactly is being taught at USF@Sarasota campus?

What a shame, they offer so few degrees to choose from at the Sarasota campus to begin with. Hopefully SCF can offer more at some point.

Both programs are on their website; that's all I know.

probably because the job market for these programs is so abismally low and low-paying...if students don't sign up there is no validity to fund it from the admin's point of view...

USF-Sarasota is a stand alone entity now, recently splitting off from the main campus in Tampa. This has its benefits as well as its drawbacks. The social work program has rigorous standards for accreditation and the USF Sarasota branch might not have been able to achieve the necessary requirements to obtain this high level of certification. They still have great programs in interdisciplinary studies, nursing, education, BBA & MBA, a few others.

Why is that so shocking in a state that in 2009 has a 43% HS dropout rate?

One of the worst in the country.

There are some discrepancies in the statisitics.

State claims lower dropout rate, but not all are happy

Thank you for posting accurate information. I don't understand why that OP consistently posts mis information. Consistently!
