I will retire this year and move my liberal, ACLU loving butt down to Florida where I hope to inspire more of the locals to support unions, higher minimum wages, and medicare for all. I'm in favor of high taxes on the rich and fewer Americans going hungry and homeless.

It's funny, I was going to include in my earlier post the question " Are you planning to move to Fl. but I didn't because I thought it would be rude! I hope to retire this year as well and move my conservative, Christian butt down to continue to work towards the betterment of my country. At least we are both passionate about something other than the season premiere of American Idol!

This thread and these "talking points" are dead. You're looking for a fight and I'm not going to give it to you. Take it to the political forum.
Your wrong again! I did read the entire thread and was amazed, confused and frightened by the things you defended and distorted. Your right about the fact I was looking for a fight though. Why don't you go to the political forum?

I don't think you'll do well in Sarasota then. The county hasn't ever voted in a democratic president since 1944. No matter what, it's a conservative stronghold and it's becoming one of the last in the nation. I even got that fact off the democrats website.

but I digress... back to Christians...

One more reason for me to move to Sarasota. I live in a county that voted 95% for John Kerry. Can you imagine living in a county that is so liberal ! What do you think the largest city in a county like that would look like? Detroit.

Sarasota... a conservative stronghold? That’s funny! :-) The city of Sarasota is very progressive in many respects. If you look at the rural areas of the county, then it becomes more conservative, but that trend holds true for most of the country. We love Sarasota because it has a thoughtful liberal community. You are correct that southwest Florida is more conservative, but that is due to the demographics of the region: age. Sarasota has a great progressive spirit. Come on down Alaska to Florida! You will fit right in. :-)

As a reader of this thread, I am not in a position to answer the OP's question directly...but I do have related questions of my own after reading several opinions expressed here.

Doe the fact that a city or area in this blessed USA have a huge Christian population make that place a bad place? Are Christians an anathema to civilization and progress? Is a place considered beautiful and desirable if it is occupied only by those espousing liberal or agnostic points of view?
