There has not been one instance in 8 years of a 5 year old or a grey haired granny with a bomb!! I think it's time we went with the MOST obvious!!!

I agree.

Time to stop being wimps and profile every single middle eastern man, woman or child.

It only takes one mistake of not doing this to cause American lives.

Time we do the right thing and stop being so damn politically correct.

Please elaborate on the Venice area observations. I have been here in Venice for 7 years, before that 13 in Bradenton and I have worked from Tampa to Fort Myers and still have yet to see obvious signs of a dominent religion in any community. Have you been bible thumped somewhere in Venice ? We get the occassional Jahoba witness knocking on the door, just let the dog loose on them, youll be surprised how fast those peeps run!

Interesting quote I just found: “I regard Christianity as the foundation of our national morality and the family as the basis of our national life”

I live in south Nokomis & drive through Venice 4x day. The amount of white haired drivers I see of buicks & crown victorias with the jesus fish stuck on the back is astounding. It's gotten to the point where we play a little game to see how many we can count before we get to where we're going. We also eat out (& shop) in Venice a lot & I have seen the elderly folk leaving those little "are you saved" pamphlets on the table. Just what the waitress wants Not to mention the many local service vehicles I see with the jesus fish or the nice bible passage plastered on the back bumper/door. There's even a Barclay Pharmacy billboard right by the Walgreens at 41 & Center with a big jesus fish on it. Not to say it's ONLY in Venice but from my observations, that's where I notice these things the most. I'm sure you can lump Nokomis & North Port in there too. Definitely a different vibe up in the city (Sarasota metro)

I did have a man come to my door to prothletize & he had his 4-5 year old boy with him. It was so sad to me- he's dragging this kid door to door with his arms full of the pamphelts in 85 degree weather with long pants on. Fun day for the boy I'm sure. I have a Shih Tzu so "unleashing the dog" doesn't have quite the same effect for unwanted guests, lol...

Haha Pixi, I was asking out of curiousity as I tend to ignore religious banter of any kind. Like I said we get the door to door bible bushwackers every now and again. We got a min pin, she doesnt look scary but she gets pretty uptight with the bible thumpers at the door lol ! I will make an effort to be more observant to the jesus fish around town, I really never notice them.

I don't care to know, but on the other hand NO "grannies" or babies have yet to succeed, or even attempt, a terrorist act. A fact that cannot be denied. How far do the PC crowd intend to go to not upset the young Arabic/Muslim men by profiling them as possible terrorists? I'm not saying we need to go as far as the mass deportation/imprisonment of Japanese citizens during WWII, but seriously, there have been absolutely NO attempts by anyone other than young Non-American males to blow up any airplanes in this country. So why are we taking pillows away from five year olds and frisking grannies at and on airplanes?

I think it is freedom of religion, Not atheism. The fore- fathers of this Country who you are quoting fought, died and signed a little piece of paper and sent it back to England. For what? There religous beliefs (Christian) and seperation from the King.

Now I will admit, I once was a non-believer and by the grace of God, I knocked and Jesus answered. If you do not believe in Christ, why is there so much anger and jabs at people with Jesus bumperstickers on there tailgates.

I find it hard to believe walking through life believing in Agnostic, Darwinism, Atheist beliefs. When your life ends what do you have to look for? And if you believe in Mohhamed, Budda and etc, I will stay with Jesus because he is the only the way who came back (ressurection)

Also for the commit on Jerry Fallwell, If you would read further and not bash, you would have found that Liberty Counsel is out of Orlando (Matt Staver) a (Christian) Attorney who fights against the ACLU on the behalf of anyone and Christians.

Don't you think it would be to our advantage to try not to do anything that makes it easier for Islamic extremist to recruit more followers?

Don't you realize that any policy that can be construed as mistreatment of Muslims will be turned into propaganda and used in recruitment?

Don't you understand that the advantages of profiling will be short lived, as Al-Qaeda will quickly adapt, and the damages by the policy will be long term, maybe un-retractable. (Kind of a win the battle but lost the war kind of thing.)

Aren't you aware that Al-Qaeda reportedly has a history of recruiting blue eyed blonds in Europe?

Would this type of profiling have stopped Richard Reid, a biracial British/Jamaican?

Have you already forgotten about the Fort Hood shooter? Why did an American start shooting his fellow solders on American soil? We need to understand why an American of Muslim faith felt the way he did.

Do you really think that we can secure our borders? We can't keep out illegal immigrants how are we going to keep out someone intent on martyrdom?

IMO, profiling young, middle eastern males is a simplistic solution that will only alienate citizens of the entire region and accelerate the Jihad. I don't think that the people who are promoting racial profiling are looking at the big picture. The enemy certainly is.
