Hi, my husband and I are seriously considering a relo from NW FL to Sarasota. We moved here 5 years ago from CA, and even though it is a beautiful place, we really don't fit in. In researching alternatives, we like the fact that Sarasota isn't a big city, but still has many amenities. We're drawn by its nice weather and beaches with sunsets, a vibrant art scene (hubby is an artist) and museum, an art house theater, nice shopping/non-chain dining (a Whole Foods!), yoga, a walking downtown with some historic and classical architecture, seemingly balanced (50-50) political landscape, 4 dog parks including a dog beach, and an airport. What more could one ask for?

We don't know much about the neighborhoods, other than what we've read on this forum, but think the area referred to as Southside Village might be a good fit for us -- feedback welcome. We like "location," safety, charm and walkability, and aren't really suburban/gated community types. Because of our dog we need a house with a yard, not a condo. We would like a realtor who specializes in that area, so please PM recommendations.

Thank you!

Looking at what you have said I think you're spot on with Southside Village. It's got the funky, artistic vibe. It's close to downtown with the eclectic shops and great restaurants.

Good luck with your search
