Hello,

We will be relocating to the North Port area in May, but we'd like to visit North Port for a week in late March. We are hoping to rent a house either IN or NEAR North Port for the week. I've had trouble locating a place to rent, because I understand that most rentals are occupied January thru March. I'm hoping that someone here might be able to help, or know someone who has a home available to rent, or point me in the right direction

Our week to visit is March 27 - April 3. We'd like to spend less than $600 for the week; however, it seems we are visiting during peak season so I understand we may not find something in that price range. We don't need anything fancy, and could even do a condo. 2 bedrooms preferred, but we could settle for less if necessary.

I understand we may be out of luck and we'll just have to settle for fewer nights in a hotel, but I haven't given up yet! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

North Port really isn't a vacation rental type of area so you might have a bit of difficulty finding a short term rental in this area. And like you said that's peak season so that's going to be an issue as well.

What I would do is look on Craigslsit and see if you see anything. You might even want to try someone that advertises as an annual rental. If they can make $600 for the week they might just jump on it. The only problem is that it probably won't be furnished. Guess you could pick up an air mattress for the week...just trying to come up with ideas. Only other idea I have is CouchSurfing - Participate in Creating a Better World, One Couch At A Time

go to tripadvisor.com. they have a new feature that shows rental properties not just hotel rooms.

enter north port fl in the search box at top. the search will come up as port charlotte.
click on "vacation rentals" and when that comes up click on "advanced search".
you have to look around but the advanced search is located on the left sidebar and you can specify the cities nearby you'd consider renting in.

there is only (1) vac. rental for north port, lol, but lots of other ones with weekly rentals.

you can also look in craigslist but tripadvisor comes with reviews by real people. craigslist can be iffy, some people are scammers and I wouldn't send any money in advance.

when my family came to visit last october, they stayed at a home here in north port using this web site. North Port Vacation Rentals, North Port Rentals, CyberRentals the house they stayed at was the 5th one on the list and it was off of chamberlain blvd, somewhat close to me so it worked out but i see the dates that you are coming, its rented for the first half of your stay. check out the other houses on there to see if anything is available. good luck!

Hello, thanks everyone! I have exhausted all the Vacation rental websites. I realize North Port isn't a vacation home place, but we were hoping to stay where we might live. And couch surfing won't work, LOL, I have 2 crazy kiddos and an even crazier husband. SoFLGal - my husband chatted with you on the phone last week about our relocation and we hope to meet with you when we are down there.

Guess we'll end up doing the hotel thing, unless something else pans out in the mean time. Thanks for all the suggestions!
