Utilize the internet. Search the stores (not just the big box stores), and sometimes you can find "diamond in the rough" deals on craigslist. No real secrets, but yes, it can take time. My wife and I both work and we have a little one, so sometimes the research can take me well into the night.
Regarding floors, it is hard to beat lumber liquidators prices. If you need installation, you can find labor anywhere.

Absolutely false. Anytime there is a good deal to be had, somebody starts rumors like this. I've used them three times for past houses and the flooring products were just as good as other flooring stores (not "scratch & dent" stuff).

That's good to hear because I've been looking at lumber liqudators. What size or cost of houses did you put these wood floors and have you ever had warranty issues or returning issues with them.*

Never had any issues, and never needed to return anything. Obviously if you put the floor down with nails or adhesive and then tear it up and try to return it, they might laugh at you.

I'm just concerned because I'll have around 3,000 sqf To purchase but it sounds like youve had some good experiences with them
