I met someone online and he sorta introduced me to SI and told me a little about it since he lived there. I was told it was a private island in Palmetto with 500 people and its a hideaway from the rest of the county + its gay/bi friendly. I hear how people there need referrals from the community if they want to live there. I hear its a party place where people have fun a lot. I personally think it all sounds too good to be true though and hear its pretty rich so..
Id like opinions.

Sounds kind of elitist and discriminatory (and probably illegal).

It's not a private island at all, although there is one gated community with about 35 houses. Emerson Point Park at the far end of the island is a Manatee County park that is open to the public. There are a few businesses on the island, and the Bradenton Yacht Club is out there as well. The houses are nice, but like all waterfront / island communities the cost is inflated due to the proximity to the water, and elevation.

As for being G/B/L friendly it's probably no different than the rest of the area, although I can't speak personally.

You can drive in from Parish on 301 and stay on 10th St all the way till you cross the little bridge. Over that bridge is Snead Island.

I heard it was some great hideaway, but judging by what you say, it truly seems too good sounding to be true. '
It really isnt a private island??
So the gated community over there is most likely the really selective one?
Lookswise Snead Island looks no different from anything else thats brand new and cookie cutter at least in my eyes from looking at the homes on street view.
