Not looking for pity, just a free place to stay. We used all of our extra money this year to pay off a ton of credit card debt. We are almost credit card debt free!
The one drawback is my wife said no Florida this year. I asked if we could go if I found a way to travel for free? She laughed and said yes.
We received free flights through Southwest.
I may be able to swing a corporate rental.
I need a place to stay. Maybe someone who will be gone all summer?
Someone who cant rent becuase of the economy?
Maybe a resort looking for a great review?
Maybe just someone who is nice?

We are both college educated and graduates. We have two children, own our own home and have long term stable jobs. We do not drink or smoke. All we do is play on the beach with the kinds, nothing fancy.
Not the typical couple looking for something free but what the heck. You dont know unless you try.

Thats ironic, I have been in Florida just over 20 years and I have been looking for a free place to stay on Siesta key also ! What a small world. Siesta key is the 1 of the most expensive vacation places to stay here. Let me know how this works out for you please. If you are successful, it is a technique I must learn!

LOL - I wouldn't mind a "free" place myself! I'll be waiting to hear the results myself!

don't you think someone asking for a free place in a location like Siesta Key might have named himself
something better than UglyDork???
doesn't promise too much...

and there are web sites for people who want to swap lodging rent-free--
have you considered one of those?

I am not going to respond to any negative posts which includes my monikor, I am a very positive person, you cant bring me down

We have been going to Siesta Key for years, it is the only time during the year I get to really relax with my family. My wife and I work very hard to provide a better life for our kids. I NEVER went on vacation growing up.

It was a priority this year to get rid of the mountain of debt. We did it to ourselves and we got ourselves out. No Government bailout needed.

I realize this is not conventional nor a preferred method to take a vacation, but I have also seen individuals become wealthy hitting the lottery.

If we get lucky, I will post and tell everyone about my good fortunes unless the other party wants me to remain quiet. If I dont get a couch to sleep on, I know we tried. We win either way!

We have a wonderful family, great jobs and a beautiful home in New York (VERY high taxes included). No reason for anyone to feel sorry for us and that wasn't my intent. We have a great life!

Some RV parks including state and county parks offer free stays if you are a worker. They call them "camp hosts". You could call Turtle Beach on Siesta Key and ask if they offer this, it's a county park.
Then you could work on borrowing a camper :-)

then why did your post come across as someone whining about not being able to afford something that most people would consider a high-end vacation/luxury trip

IF you have indeed been going to Siesta Key for years
then you are ahead of most people--even many who live in FL and will never be able to afford that trip.

Spend some time with your family AT HOME this summer--learn to relax AT HOME for a change--teach your children how to enjoy life without spending money on things you can do for free...
NY state as some wonderful parks--I am sure one is close to you--certainly closer than FL
there are even-- quelle surprise--beaches in the NY area...
maybe you can find someone on Montauk who will be willing to let you sleep on a couch...
