Is anyone able to shed any light on Vamo? I have searched this forum, but foun very little about the area. I would just like to know if it is a desirable area (for a couple in their 40's with no kids) to live in or not - any information gratefully received. Thanks!

It looks kinda dumpy and run down to me. I launch kayaks from there.

Thanks snivlem & Peter the Brit. Judging from the sparse response, I'm guessing that most people agree with you! One last try, has anybody out there got anything positive to say about Vamo?

There are many nice areas of Sarasota that you should focus your attention. Vamo is an old run down area.

I have been looking at neighborhoods in southern Sarasota and though this one may be run down, I think they have a community boat ramp/marina for resident use if enjoying the water is important to you. I have been searching for our own little "place in the sun" too, and there seems to be a hodgepodge of properties in this area.

Let's see. It's in a great location. Close to the water and the mall. But yea, it's kind of a dump. We looked at 3/2 pool home there. It was listed for under $100K, that should have been a hint. We looked, but after driving around the neighborhood we decided it wasn't for us.

Vamo is definitely a mix of properties. Some good some bad. Bordered by U.S. 41 on the east the bay on the west a large retirement community on the north and the exclusive Oaks community on the south. Properties are priced between $94,000 and $380,000 If you are looking for a small waterfront community with its its on marina and boat ramp the area know as Tropical Shores is the better choice in the Vamo area.

Tropical Shores isn't a bad little neighborhood, at least as I remember it from 20 years ago.
