Can anyone tell me which city, Sarasota, Naples or Ft. Myers is better for a 57 year old single woman to live. I'm thinking about re-locating to the West coast of Florida from the East Coast and wanted some opinions on these areas - thx.

My personal choice of the three is Sarasota. In fact, I live and work on the east coast but own a home in Sarasota. It is a decent-sized city with every amenity that still offers the slower pace of the west coast. Naples is very upscale with an older population. Ft. Myers is a bit more working class. Sarasota is a nice combination of the two, plus more cultural activities available. Since the housing market has cooled, there is more nice housing stock available in the Sarasota area than ever before. All three areas have beautiful beaches.

dont know much of sarasota.

i frequent fort myers and naples tho.

between those two areas, it really depends on income.

basically if youve got tons of money, choose naples. very upscale place, upscale shopping, upscale restaurants very good upkeep in that city, and a very nice beach. also 1.5/2 hours from miami if you take 41 (i go to FIU i know how long it takes lol)

fort myers is basically like naples but a little more realistic, still expensive as is all south florida but u might be able to survive there without being loaded.

not as "pretty" as naples but it has its affluent areas as well. probably more crime in fort myers. somewhat younger population.

Sarasota has affordable areas as well as theater, art, music and a small downtown with a big city feel. There's always things to do & the downtown area is right off Sarasota Bay....
