They are saying it was about 11ft. & that they can't completely rule out the possibility of it being from the oil spill as these sharks can travel great distances. But it also had a hook in it's mouth. Even if some find the subject not worthy...apparently some do so I'll share it anyway.

Thanks for the update. Well, if beaching occurs more often, then we know its the oil out there. Sad, regardless.

After reading the articles, I find it odd that Mote Marine has no facilities for sharks or shark experts.

Thanks for the update Pixi.

I'm more afraid of getting hit by lighting than having an encounter with a shark, lol.

well, i stopped buying gas at BP - even though it was my favorite and so convenient. It's my personal protest i guess. i hope it was an isolated and coincidental incident with this poor shark. I fear it's not.

This really bothers me. New, Giant Oil Plume Spotted In Gulf - News Story - WHNS Greenville

I hadn't read this before, but they are saying that these blooms of oil are dissolved into the water, and no longer visible. The speculation is that it's from the dispersants.

It's bad enough to cover the water, beaches, fish, birds, etc., but if we can't see it, and have no idea that it's there......

We were at the beach (school science field trip) and witnessed this as well. It was fascinating to see something so wild, so close up.

Definitely an interesting experience!

Scenario 2: the pod of dolphins swimming offshore had just been fighting with that shark after it attacked one of them and thought they were rid of it...only to see a crowd of humans trying to save it and return it to the sea where it could once again try to eat baby dolphins. Just saying....:-)
