Beaches!

One of our beaches on Long Island took #1 and Siesta Key got #2! I think that's pretty cool! From this "America's Top 10 Beaches" list on yahoo:
Dr. Beach: N.Y.'s Southampton beach tops list

Being near great beaches is something that made Sarasota an easy choice (over Reno) for us, moving from LI. I just REALLY wish I could CTRL+Z the whole oil disaster undo, undo, undo...darn.

where in long island are(were) you from.
Im currently living in east Moriches, before in Lake Ronkonkoma and Manorville. We bought a house just north of University and will be coming down for good in July.

I live near the nassau/suffolk border so way west of you. We go to Tobay Beach and love it. Quiet (not this weekend though! Jones Beach air show), friendly, the kids love the sprinkler park, singletons on the bay is nice. When we visited Sarasota and Siesta Key we said, "We can do this" It's different but not too different

And I am even Further West - in Roslyn.
No beaches here.

I tried going to Jones Beach the other day - the line for the parking lot was about a mile long. So I turned around & tried to get to LongBeach. Got onto Loop Pkwy &, aaargh - that's stopped too for at least a half mile.
I came home & hiked around the Nassau COunty Art Museum instead.
It was HOT!

I've never been to that #1 beach out in the Hamptons. Isn't that a Private beach? If so, I don't think that should count in the listings. So I'll give my vote to Siesta.

Love Jones Beach (my hometown area) but love Siesta Beach (for the sand). Love Manasota Beach even more. Bought a house in Venice 2 years ago and will make the move for good next year.
