Hello,
WE are in need of a long weekend getaway (with out the kids...) and have considered visiting Savannah, GA. The cold up here in Royal Oak, MI is getting to us! Looking for some inexpensive places to stay and suggestions of fun things to do, & great places to eat. We would be open to doing some of the "tourist" stuff, but would really like some cool ideas of what the local residents consider things you must do while visiting. Make any sense? Any suggestions?

Thanks
Rich & Dawn

Please go to For 91 Days. It's a great blog about 2 men who are just finishing up a 91 day stay in Savannah, taking photos and blogging about the places they visited. It's full of great suggestions.
Otherwise, just check through the threads, since this question has been covered about a million times.

When we did the tourist thing we took two trolley rides (each company tells and shows different information/sites) and visisted Bay street and River Street. Can't go wrong with 5 Guys and Fries, the Vinnie's pizza a go-go, River Street Sweets, Love's Seafood (steaks and fresh seafood), Chik fil a (not big in the midwest but HUGE down here - oddly addicting - i'm from iowa and never went till we moved here last fall)...also there's a mexican plance called jalapenos that rocks! We went to the Bass Pro Shops, walked the beaches at Tybee and also browsed the off the wall tourist shops on the island (look for the Tybee cat lady - she's cool!) and shopped at the stores on River Street. We took a nighttime ghost tour (there are lots to pick from) and also toured Bonaventure Cemetery. (excuse and spelling errors). Have fun!
