Alfred Lott has withdrawn his name as a finalist for Savannah City Manager, saying he is taking a job in DC. That leaves just Acting City Manager Michelle Small-Toney in the running. HOW CONVENIENT! The only right thing to do at this point is to suspend the process anld resume it in January 2012 when a new mayor and council will be seated.

The whole process has been poisoned beyond recognition. Anyone in the running for the CM job (anyone running against Rochelle Small-Toney, that is) would be smart enough to recognize they would be working in a hostile environment where some people overtly didn't want them there, and even the people who "chose" you had voiced the idea that you were not the "best possible" candidate, and probably only voted for you to make sure your competitor and her allies were thwarted. Either way, Lott was smart to get as far away from that whole bunch as possible.
