Is there a trolley for just public transportation and NOT a tour?

Except the trolley on River St. goes up and down (back and forth) just for transportation.

I'm not sure that it is still running. It was a big flop. It's just a short distance and most people liked to just stroll along and look in the shops, etc. If you really needed to get from one end to the other, you could probably walk it faster.

Exclamation No, no, no!!!

There is a shuttle that takes you over a surprising area in the historic district......the shuttle has DOT all over it and there are marked stops and it is free. I do not think they over adverstise since it might put a dent in the tour businesses? Maybe if you google DOT shuttle and Savannah......? I am here for the first time in Savannah (and having a blast!!!!).....I just found out about this shuttle today in the hotel magazine. Maybe it's a new thing? The shuttles look brand new.......If you get the chance to do the afternoon riverboat tour it is relatively expensive and very informative and a great way to spend time during the afternoon. We even saw a bald eagle today, along with huge ships in the channel, cool views of River St and learned a ton of history........great tour IMO : )

Yeah, there is a trolley that runs up and down River Street which is part of a small network of buses and the ferry downtown. It's called Connect on the Dot. Not associated with CAT.

Lightbulb The DOT shuttle runs longer..........

Don't know if this is a recent change, but tonight we took the free shuttle to Forsythe Park............there was a free concert and this is part of the regular loop.....it also dropped people off at the Hampton Inn and Suites and went the length of Drayton.........also by college of art/design and upper Bay Street.......also specific stop at city market. So many concerts tonight here for free..........love this place. Just have to remember the shuttle stops at 9. Runs every 20 mins though................is great to know about!~

FYI: The college of art/design (Savannah College of Art & Design aka SCAD) has buildings ALL over the Historic District, not a specific place in downtown.
& Yes, the DOT does cover Forsyth Park, which is part of the Historic District.
