What is an inexpensive, clean hotel by the Riverwalk? Are the midtown or southside area nearby and safe? Nothing fancy needed. Looking to spend around $50/night.

The Thunderbird Inn, on Oglethorpe, looks super fun, and at just over $100. it's about as cheap as you can get in the area you want to be in.

We've booked a room in Abercorn. It's about 15 minutes from downtown. I wanted to be closer but couldn't for the price. I hope Abercorn is a decent area.

Is the hotel called Abercorn or is the hotel on Abercorn street? 'Cause Abercorn Street goes from River Street all the way out of town! It's actually a 'main drag' for the city, though, so it'll be an easy reference point for exploring Savannah.

As long as you don't mind a long commute to downtown. That's about as far away as you can get without being in Florida. 100 Abercorn is downtown, if that gives you an idea.
