We would need to be within Chatham county. I am curious about rural areas. We have 2 horses and would like at least 5 acres of land for them. We would need an area that is not too pricey, and not too far from civilization. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

Unfortunately for that amount of acres for horses the vast majority of Chatham County are not options. Some areas of Bloomingdale might fit your needs however, good luck!

Do ypu have to live in Chatham County? There should be land available just up the road a little in Effingham Co. That's Rincon, etc. Also just over the Savannah River, in SC.

Default Thanks for the replies so far.

We do not live in Chatham, but would be required to be there for job. Just need a bit of property. Thanks!

I don't know where you live now, but if you do locate enough land in Chatham County, be sure to have plenty of shade for the horses. It gets very hot here in the summer, and the horses would be miserable if they aren't used to it.

On Wilmington Island I've seen several properties on Walthour that have horses....but I'm sure you'd be looking at about a $500K plus purchase price because it's close to the water. There are a few places that you could find an acre +/- that would hover around $250K. Might be some places open on Whitfield or Salt Creek Road off island available or opening soon.

But areas like Guyton, Rincon and Ellabell still have areas where you can purchase land.

Check the local MLS and use "lot size" in the advanced search area and you never know what might pop up.

OR you could check and see if there are stables available where you could board your horses and ride them and just get a normal sized lot. Might end up being more affordable.

Good luck!
