Yeah but I'm sure this will never happen anyways. I wish but too many conservatives who will think gambling is evil, will never let a change like that go through.

I like the idea of it being on Hutchinson Island, that would be great...get drunk on river street, take the ferry over the river, gamble a little and when you're done take the ferry back to river street. But, I agree, not on this side of the river, they would have to take out too many great old buildings, and new buildings make downtown suck. It seems like it would be a *****, also to pass through the Georgia and local legal system.

I also agree that any casinos that come to Savannah should go on the Hutchinson Island side of the river.

New buildings make downtown suck?? Really??? Not if they're done right. You've got a lot of examples to look at. Atlanta, for starters, has TONS of new buildings and they only make the city look better, for the most part.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand..

Could there be an amendment to the Georgia constitution that specifically allows gambling/casinos to be built in one particular county or city (aka Savannah) and no where else in the state? Maybe that could help sway the other half of GA on this issue... if it were possible. Then again, you'd have to wonder how Savannahians themselves would vote. The City itself would probably be for, however, the suburbs would more than likely vote against.

Well not to get off topic again but Atlanta has a futuristic skyline so New buildings will always look good in Atlanta. On the other hand Savannh has a historic SKY no line, Savannah is better off sticking with their style but can start to try to look a little bit like New Orleans and build on Huchinson island. Even though a lot of money would go into building on huchinson island.
