I'm SO happy that I found this forum! Someone please help me! I am a single mom and a college student I have just finished my A.S. in Business Management. I would like to know is it a reality for me to find a 2 bedroom apartment in Savannah that is on a bus route under 400$? The neighborhood does not have to be top notch, I just want to get my foot in the door in Savannah I can progress later. If this is a reality please list the neighborhoods and apartment names. Any replies will be greatly appreciated!
1. Budget- 400.00 or under*
2. House/Condo/Townhome? Any*
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) Self employed/ Full time student*
4. Children(public school vs. private) 14 & 10 Public Schools only*
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two) No preference*
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not?) Yes Public Transit is a must*

You probably won't be able to find an apartment like that unless you move into public housing. Good news for you is the fact they've recently built a couple of new mixed income communities that ook really nice. They're on the bus line.

Uh oh...Unfortunately, according to the website, the housing authority of Savannah is currently not accepting applications. Housing Authority of Savannah Public Housing

If I were you, I'd stay put till you find a job or affordable housing. There's plenty of time to get your foot in the door, later.

If you're a college student, why don't you check Statesboro and Georgia Southern, or Valdosta State, for that matter? Savannah may not be Albany, GA or Chicago, but I'm not sure you'll be that much better off here.

That price point can be tough to find but you may want to check out Montgomery Landings. It is private but I think it has income limits.
