Whitemarsh is good if you get someplace with easy access to Islands Expressway. You have to drive by the projects to get downtown by this route, but basically you can get to downtown quickly most of the time. In general I found the apartments quiet out this way, and most of them are gated. It's like living in Thunderbolt except the traffic isn't as bad.
