This is my first year going to the Parade and want to know if anyone has any advice for the best place to park? We are leaving Hinesville at 6 am to get into one of the garages downtown, but I was curious if it was better to park at Savannah mall and ride the CAT or park at the convention center and ride the ferry across? Thanks!

The garages are already full, unfortunately. Even people who work downtown and purchase spaces can't get in. I think the mall might be easiest for you.

You can park on Hutchinson Island at the convension center and take the free ferry over. The only caviat is you may need to wait in line an hour or two to catch the ferry back over to your car. All in all, its a pretty good method we've used a couple times. Just get off the ferry, walk up the hill to Bay St and the parade hits there about 20 mins after it starts.

Thanks, I think that sounds the best because of trying to catch the CAT bus back to the mall might be harder than just waiting for the ferry!

Good luck to you.
Hubby and I had the perfect plan, and a place to park near one of the squares, but we could not get to our parking spot due to closed off streets. So we went to plan B, which is what I told you to do, but when we got there the line for the ferry was about 2-3 hours long, so we are, right now, enjoying the parade on TV and doing a bit of gardening in the yard. We will miss our traditional lunch on River St watching the people and the ships go by, but this year there was just too much aggrivation to bear.
I hope you get there and enjoy the parade. It is such perfect weather for it today.

Gentlearts....
We got to the Convention Center at 7:30 and made the ferry across to find a spot right by the courthouse and city hall! We were settled in before 8:00. The only drawback was going back over after the parade. We ended up going by the Waving Girl statue and Marriott hotel and catching the ferry back over but they didn't start that until almost 5:00pm. It was pretty warm today so the waiting for an hour 1/2 was a little rough, but what an easy way to get right back on I95 and home before 6 pm! Sorry, you didn't get your spot, I heard about the craziness. It was a great day overall! Thanks for the tip.
