Most of the Islanders shop at the Piggly Wiggly in the Sandfly Shopping Center. It's the nearest. The next closest is probably the Food Lion at Eisenhower Plaza or the Krogers at the Oglethope Mall area. hmmmmmm, maybe the Krogers at Pin Point would be closer. We don't have many Publix super Mkts. in this area. I can only think of two.

Thank you!! I knew Publix wasn't the closest! I am from TX where we don't have Publix, but for the last few years I have lived in FL and I have become a total Publix fan!!! The one's around here are worth driving for - LOL!!! I keep telling my husband that with all the changes we will experience with our move I will still have Publix!! The Krogers in TX were usually nice, but the Piggly Wiggly's were usually yucky, but I am guessing they are much nicer there!!
Thanks for giving me all the locations!

Still hoping to hear about family life on Isle of Hope! I have yet to hear something negative about the neighborhood, generally speaking - is that too good to be true??? I would sure love to hear from someone raising kids there!!

Isle of Hope is a family oriented area. Houses that date waaaayyy back and are passed down in the families. Also, a lot of newer homes. No apartments or condos. Lots of children's activities like T-Ball, swimming, boy and girl scouts, plus the usual church groups. The older children that are interested in Little League Baseball, etc, go nearby to the Bacon Park Sports complex to play. And of course, school activities for the Elementary age group. Very active PTA at the Isle of Hope School.

The Isle of Hope swimming pool teaches swimming and the swim team wins trophies. It's not unusual for some of our teens to get swimming scholarships when they get ready for college.

No through traffic, so it's great for bikes and walking.

It's also close (about 2-3- miles) to a municipal golf course and tennis complex.

And yeah, I would say it's almost too good to be true. Not perfect. But it please a lot of people. Churches: Large Baptist and Methodist congregations, medium sized Episcopal, Roman Catholic services in a small chapel (I think once a month) with the regular services in at nearby St. James. And a lot of people don't go anywhere.

We sort of live together, but mind our own business, if that makes sense. Most consider it sort of wonderful that they are lucky enough to live here. Of course, there are the usual sore heads that wouldn't be happy anywhere. We just politely tolerate them.
