I'm going to Savannah this weekend with a friend who has heart issues. I'd like to know ahead of time which hospital I should take her to for HEART issues, in case she has any problems while we're there. Need one that takes Medicare. Any advice?

Many thanks!

There are only three large hospitals in the Savannah area......St Joseph.....it's out on the Southside of town. Candler..in the midtown area, and Memorial....a teaching hospital. All take Medicare.

I don't know how the others are staffed, but Memorial has doctors ready to treat at any time in the Emergency Room. Memorial is also close to Candler.

If your friend has a doctor in mind, just in case, then you should go to the hospital where he/she is on staff. I think your choice should be either Candler or Memorial because of location.

Any hospital emergency room will take you. Fortunately, all of our hospitals are good. Get your friend to have her doctor recommend a colleague here. Knowing the right doctors can make the difference in how soon she will get treated, if she's not in critical condition.

I've always followed: teaching hospitals trump all others.

Default Thanks!

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Savannnah. Beautiful, historic city. No heart problems happened and we had a great time. Thanks to everyone for you input.
