Hi,

we live in Greenville, SC and are in the process of looking for for a vacation home at the beach.

Is it possible to find condos or small single family homes around 100K in a nice, safe area that is not far from the beach?
We would probably want to rent it out every once in a while so location is pretty important.

Do you have any suggestions where to look or is it pretty much impossible to find anything in you area in that price range?

We don't really have to be really close to all the touristy stuff (actually, I don't want that at all). As long as it is close to the beach, safe and in our price range, we are very flexible, when it comes to location. We can always come down and check out the area.

Thank you for your input.

Do a google search for: Tybee Island Ga. Real Estate for sale.

I think that your stated figure is too low to be feasible. But maybe you might find something in the Fort Stewart area (that's the North End near the mouth of the Savannah River.)

I did one quick, dumb search and found three tiny condos for less than 150k.

Me too, but you could try St. Simons Island. There are a few there, too.

Yes, I'm stunned at how far condo and house prices have fallen here, mainly due to the number of foreclosures. Not so great for those of us that already owned, but really great for those trying to enter the market.
