This would be a major coup for the airport if this did happen. SAV certainly needs more carriers and more destinations if it wants to grow.
Could JetBlue be flying Savannah's way? | savannahnow.com

The question could be....Does Savannah really want to GROW, and in what way. I sure don't want to live in another Atlanta.

I doubt we'll become another Atlanta if we add a low-cost airline. We've lost several carriers in the past decade, so I think we're still at a deficit. In fact, we had one on par with Jet Blue that offered cheap flights to JAX.

Don't worry about a thing Mrs. P., it's only a big deal if you like to travel.

Meh. Flights have to connect at JFK. Far from convenient for most people. I guess the exodus to JAX for AirTran/Southwest flights will continue...

It's a good start. JetBlue's service to New York probably won't stop there. Think of the big picture.

I'm pretty sure one low-cost carrier isn't going to come remotely close to turning Savannah into another Atlanta.

Jet Blue's low fares will be the equalizer on that point. Intro fare: NY to SAV $79

One low-cost airline is VERY important to a smaller market like Savannah. Atlanta can afford to take it or leave it when it comes to new carriers (not the ATL Chamber of Commerce perhaps, but ordinary Atlantans would probably like less congestion and fewer passengers at the airport). Not so Savannah or Augusta or Greenville, where new airline service is big news. Plus, Savannah has far more visitors than other cities its size, so a new carrier is even more significant. The Savannah Morning News ran the tweet on page one. We all know how expensive the fares on Delta and US Air have become, esp. after AirTran's departure. Not enough competition. JetBlue would be welcomed with open arms in Savannah.
