The renaissance in Savannah TV news continues on Monday when WSAV launches a 10 p.m. newscast on their sister station WGSA-TV 13 (The CW) to compete with WJCL's 10 p.m. newscast on WTGS Fox 28.

What's more impressive: WSAV has added FOUR additional people to their news team to launch this new venture (not replacements, FOUR NEW POSITIONS!)

Dave Kartunen, morning anchor, who was at WSAV briefly about 10 years ago and returns to the market after stints at MONSTER news stations WSVN in Miami and WHDH in Boston!

Greg Gullberg, new local government reporter, who comes to WSAV from WCTV in Tallahassee / Thomasville.

Will Nunley, Digital Reporter (who's actually been on the air a few months now)

Martin Staunton, general assignment reporter, who comes to Savannah from West Virginia after a failed attempt to unseat Jay Rockefeller in the U.S. Senate. I'M NOT MAKING IT UP!

That brings the total number of on-air talent at WSAV to 20 (the most in their history I believe) and only FOUR fewer than WTOC.

I will say it again: IT IS A GREAT TIME TO BE A TV NEWS JUNKIE IN SAVANNAH GA

OK, well some of us are NBC-less right now, since we have DISH. I'm sure it is temporary. I am watching WTOC right now, and there is some reporter with dank, stringy hair, bad teeth and a crooked face, reporting on something. Maybe I'll stay with them for that reason.

I would like to watch it, if DISH would end the pissing contest with NBC. As an old geezer, I should support all the old gezzers on one of the networks, but jeesch, can't they hire anyone but the elderly?

CORRECTION! WSAV has 21 people on air (by my last count) ... I forgot Jesse Blanco, formerly of WJCL, who now does sports at WJCL and is about to launch his own local entertainment / lifestyle show.

This drives me crazy. I remember when AT&T U-Verse dropped four of my favorite networks after a contract dispute. When I called to register my displeasure, I was cut off by the customer service rep and told to call the networks involved instead. Really? Bye, bye U-Verse.

Question for you, Lovin: When you are on SSI, which TV news stations do you watch, the ones from Savannah or the ones from Jacksonville? When I lived in Brunswick I got both ... because Glynn County is technically part of the Jax market.

Quick question for Newsboy - where did you see the listing for the WSAV news partnership programming on WGSA? I looked at next week's guide, and the 10pm weekday slots still read "Paid Programming."
