You guys are old school. Personally, I have difficult tastes and sizes to accommodate. Try finding a pair of 14 EE shoes locally. The Internet has been a true God-send to people like me, who live in smaller cities with no other options.

Incidentally, the last time I went into a mall of my own volition was years ago. They are full of overpriced merch, full of annoying come-ons from vendor carts in the walking areas, and full of opportunities to spend money on things I never intended to buy upon entering. Also, I hate crowds, especially those who are shopping with their elbows out. Basically, I think of shopping malls as a little slice of hell on earth. But, that's just me. You guys have at it.

Good point BUT your example of 14EE shoes really supports your one-sided story.(BTW what did you put on those big boy feet before the age of information?)

Back to the point of being able to touch and feel. A trip to look, try, feel, etc is helpful in many. many different ways. And yes, you can go home and buy it on line.
I want to buy a golf club. I can buy it on-line much cheaper than the name brand golf store. How do I feel it in my hand? Is it heavy? Shaft too long? Can I swing it fast?

I want to buy a shirt, jacket, dress pants. On line they say "slim cut", "Full cut", "For fatties" for tall men, short men...you know the drill. Heck I'm 5'3" and a tad over 300. I need to see it, feel it.

I could go on but I'll spare the forum all personal data.
LOL

Mail order catalogs, I'm afraid. I'd say a majority of the things I buy, even those that don't need to be sized, are not even available at local outlets.

I guess every experience is one-sided.

My DH wouldn't go into a mall unless I made him (if there is a double entendre there, then it applies). I usually buy him what I think he'd like, and he likes it, because if he didn't he would be forced to go to the mall with me.
He has never bought his own shoes for example, but every decade or so, I make him go and try on jeans, or something that has a lot of variables, when you need to find the right thing. I am open to either mall...they are equally inconvenient, and neither has much that I want.
We would never, in a hundred years, go to a mall as recreation, but we will try the toby Keith Restaurant at least once.
We are older, and can say, "been there ,done that", for almost any instance.

I'm usually in the mood to visit only one store when I go to the mall. I'll park outside (say) Dillard's, go in, shop, and then leave through the same door without going into the main "mall". That portion of the building complex doesn't appeal to me at all. I can see why some would like to hang out in that area, since they could sit around in relative comfort while people-watching and such, but it's just not my idea of killing time. At least going to the park gets you some sunshine while you sit around.

As someone who did not (and now, probably never will) shop in such "trendy" places as Hollister, Aeropostale, A&F, etc. I felt there wasn't much for me in the clothing boutiques between the anchor stores, anyway. Like others have mentioned upthread, those types of stores are actively (sometimes snobbishly) chasing the skinny twenty-somethings and those who want to be perceived as skinny twenty-somethings, so they exclude/drive away large numbers of potential shoppers on purpose.
