I really feel sorry for the telephone book people. It's a miracle they still exist at all. When I get them I think, 1. the print is too small, and 2. I haven't looked at last year's.

A lot of people don't even have landlines anymore. I gave mine up a decade ago. Sometime I wonder how to get in touch with people whose contact info I don't have, but I guess I manage, because the issue doesn't come up often.

I think the phone book/yellow pages ceased to be a "service" long ago, and only hangs on because some businesses still buy ads in them (especially lawyers, car lots, doctors). They're an ad-driven publication rather than a public service, so they don't really care if the phone number section is microscopic.
