The North Carolina, privately held, burger chain will be opening two stores in the Savannah area.

The first location will be at 480 Pooler Parkway next to Parkers. Last I saw, they were compacting the soil in preparation for pouring the slab-on-grade foundation. This one probably isn't news to anyone at this point.

The second location, which is currently out to bid, will be at 11700 Abercorn Street where Wendy's once was. The building will be renovated.

Cook-Out currently operates in Statesboro, and has recently announced plans for two Atlanta locations. They operate around 100 stores throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, East Tennessee, and Southern Virginia.

They're not like most burger chains. First off, they're probably the only largish company that still doesn't have a website. There are, however, two "fan" run websites. The food is inexpensive. A burger, for instance, is less than $2.50, but you add all the toppings for a few cents extra. Sides can be anything from quesadillas to chicken nuggets. Then there are the milkshakes, with about 50 different flavors to choose from including Cheerwine, Watermelon, Nutella, etc., in addition to classic flavors.

Cheap food but not really that good IMO... They've already entered the Augusta market with their first store in the urban core(new construction) and the second location in the suburbs(former KFC)..

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we already have a Cook-Out years ago that closed down? I think it was on Mall Boulevard..

Well, the more the merrier. With all the potential choices opening on PP, it will be sink or swim.

I rejoiced when I finally got to college and there was a cookout in town. It is probably the best fast food there is on the east coast (never been to a FF restaurant in the west, so I don't know). Make sure you get actual cheddar cheese on your burgers..and try the fries Cajun style.

I agree with it being the best fast food especially for the price. Love the burgers.

I dunno, I haven't been blown away by their burgers. They're all right, nothing more. I guess they're OK for the price. There's a Raleigh-based chain called Char-Grill that's much better IMO.

No I'm actually from NC. I just like Savannah so I read your forums. I've already graduated but I do know some people from GSU...Southern, not state.
