You will be there for a week? Here's what I would do: Arrange for a late check-in (even pushing it to Sunday if necessary). Plan to spend the day on Saturday in Savannah. After that, Tybee will be fine. It's only one day, but that one day is pretty miserable. Traffic getting onto the island Saturday will be nearly impossible. Later in the evening, not so much. But for peace of mind, I'd delay your arrival as late as possible.

One thing that might diminish this year's Orange Crush: It's happening on Easter weekend. Not that it will reign in behavior, but it might keep some people away and the crowds down.

I do know that the city of Tybee hosts a very large and popular sunrise service on the beach Easter Sunday, and they have vowed to go on with that regardless of the weekend.

I was just about to suggest the same thing. I'd spend that day in Savannah if I were you and avoid Tybee until Sunday. If you have to check in on Saturday, just delay it until much later in the evening. You'll be fine.

...With the traffic out there, you might not get there until much later anyway.

Thanks for the advice. Our check in is 4 at the earliest. We had hoped to get there around 5-6. We wanted to have enough time to decorate eggs and do Easter with the kids. We had planned on attending the service. I will have to brainstorm because the kids already expressed worry about The Easter Bunny finding them!
Oh and yes we are spending a full week.
Thanks for the suggestions.
