There are no words.
There is a longer version of the incident on Jim Thomas' Facebook. Thankfully, they weren't more seriously hurt.

It's odd that his hasn't been mentioned on any of our local news sources.

I was thinking the same thing. Makes me suspicious of the "real" story.

There was a link posted on Facebook by Don Logana. That was about two hours ago. Otherwise, I haven't seen or heard anything. Truly a sad story and I hope what I read (by the guy that was attacked) was an exaggeration on his part.

In my past experience, I have seen several on duty cops walking up and down River Street. I'm shocked to hear that there were none around and that the supposed shop they walked in to was not kind enough to help them out. See, those things right there make the story sound suspicious.... I don't doubt that something terrible happened here, though as I said, it may be exaggerated.

In20 minutes, the police could have walked from Headquarters to River Street. Did they just sit there and wait until the officers came?

"My 6-year-old daughter was punched in the stomach by an adult," he said.

And you drove 4 hours back to ATL and talked to WSB?! Whatever!!

Something smells funny ...

This is a quote from Don Logana's WTOC Facebook page in which he received this from the SCMPD..

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department tell WTOC: "Metro Police are investigating a confrontation between two groups of people on Savannah’s Riverwalk Saturday night.
Downtown Precinct officers responded to a fight in progress near the Rousakis Plaza about 9:30 and found eight members of a family, some with minor injuries. The family included at least two children.
Officers immediately secured video from a nearby surveillance camera and are in the process of determining how the confrontation began and who was involved. The investigation is ongoing.
The attached document shows the call came in at 9:48 and police were on scene at 9:58.
Please keep in mind that this reflects information received and repeated by radio dispatch. The information on it is supplied by unknown callers who may or may not be accurate."

Reminds me of an incident I witnessed on Bull Street in the wee hours Sunday morning. I was walking back to my car about 2:30 am (please don't judge me) when I saw a black guy in front of Jimmy Johns yelling obscenities at a white couple at the corner of Panera Bread. When I caught up to them, I asked what it was all about and the guy told me that the black guy had said something inappropriate to his girlfriend and he'd told the guy "lay off, she's taken" and kept walking. The black guy felt "disrespected" and went off on a racist rant.

The white couple, who were from Austin and in town for a wedding, did the right thing: they just kept walking.

You gotta wonder what kind of words were exchanged on River Street that led to such an altercations. Random acts among strangers are extremely rare.
