This Is BIG. Whew, much better than that SB news about a new frankfurter place, or a plan for recycling dog poo.

I'm for making us a competitive port city. If we plan mitigation and for effects of saltwater intrusion. Understand the river has been dug much deeper than it was originally. Local government must understand altering hydrology is a big deal and requires planning. Hopefully all has been taken into consideration. I.e. drinking water and Savannah wildlife refuge impacts.

Well, just FYI ... the port of Los Angeles / Long Beach which is the largest / busiest container port in the US, is completely man-made, built along 43 miles of Southern California coastline. So I really don't see what the big deal is about Savannah.

You're comparing two different animals. Long Beach doesn't have the beautiful salt marshes that the Savannah area does.

I'm not overly familiar with the area around the Long Beach ports, but aren't they on the ocean? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Either way, I'm very happy about the port expanding. My father still works there and works on those cranes. Keep 'em coming!
