Now we just need an actual IKEA store. Perhaps in Pooler. Wouldn't this be cool?

They say lots of people show up at the warehouse thinking it is a store. Which is crazy because it's not on a main drag or anything. It's back in the woods.

People are weird.

Hehe I've heard this too. Google brings them there. They don't read closely and see it is a distribution center.

IKEA stores have VERY strict guidelines regarding entering new markets.

Something like a million plus people? It is some outrageous number Savannah won't see in our lifetimes. Keep dreaming.

Yeah, if you read the article linked by the OP, the manager of the facility says exactly that. Suffice it to say, Savannah will never have an IKEA store.

Ikea stores are overwhelming IMO ... they give me a headache. Besides, you can buy everything they sell online so going to a store is really unnecessary unless you just want the experience.

WanderingImport I am not surprised. It's like Apple. They wait until their price per sq ft of the store is insane. The only potential reason I see is that we already have a distro center here. But you are right it's probably a lifetime away. Personally I'd rather live in a small city without an IKEA than a big one that does have one anyway. I was less than half serious.. But maybe they really could set up a "mini" Ikea or "Neighborhood" IKEA with a smaller amount of showrooms, right in the distro center? Just a thought...

News... we go for the meatballs and elderberry juice and $2 breakfast

Newsboy there are still people that like going to a physical store and "shopping".

I always thought they should have a smaller store for a market like savannah. Not the warehouse size obviously but half.
