It depends on if you like living in dangerous low-income neighborhoods, because your taste is quite consistent.

In Savannah, the lower the rent, the worse the neighborhood will be.

You're not bothered by the gangs and crime in your area? You used to live on Bee Rd.?

2136 Greenwood St, Savannah, GA 31404 Low income and very hoody...
1004 41st Street E, Savannah, GA 31401 Much better area is being redevloped... Would look at it in person and do a drive by at night to see what it looks like. The further east you go the worse it gets.
1701 E 36th St, Savannah, GA 31404 Close to the 2nd but further east and more away from the park. South of victory is a really nice area. You will need to drive by and see for your self. When you drive around and see 4 to 5 guys who are unemployed hanging out around the quick e mart then you know the neighborhood is rough.

I would only look at the 2nd one. I guess price is your driving issue and desire to be close to downtown. The problem with Savannah is there are large low income neighborhoods bordering these areas and they house a lot of the perpetual unemployed and your family member who has a alcohol or substance abuse problem & a prison record problem.

My family has lived in this house since the mid 70's. We used to have two white neighbors, now we have none.

Ironically enough... the address OP is looking at, is literally right across the street from me. I actually knew the people that lived there years ago, and my dad was trying to buy that house a few years ago when it went on sale.

The gang stuff isn't that rampant on this side of Bee Rd. The gang stuff is more near 52nd and farther down between 52nd and Memorial Hospital. Sunrise Villas is section 8 I believe? Or low-income housing, and it isn't too bad.

The other thing too is, because my family has been here forever and my brothers went to public schools with some of the gang guys (and myself as well), they don't really mess with our house or family.

Long ago, I lived in three different older neighborhoods that were less than affluent at the time, mostly because I was young and adventurous. Some of my neighbors were drug dealers, but they were always courteous, probably because I was a single woman. The last neighborhood got worse instead of better, so I got out before my luck changed.

I still love urban experiences, but only in limited doses now.
