Hi all,
We're planning an overnight stop in Savannah on our way driving south to Florida for vacation soon. We'd like to find a decent hotel within 20 minutes of I-95, preferably with a nice seafood restaurant close by. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Pick any hotel you like on Airway Drive, by the airport, and eat at Sam Snead's Tavern.
This is not, however, anywhere near Historic Savannah, but it is a stone's throw from 95. If you want to drive into Savannah proper, you won't be happy with my suggestion.

Easy on and easy off: Downtown Savannah. Search downtown for the hotel that fits your budget. Should be seafood within a 5-10 minute walk.

Any Downtown hotel is 20 minutes from I-95. So are most of the good restaurants.

My personal recommendation having stayed there very recently....Best Western Plus Richmond Hill Inn. Great restaurants in the area, it's right off I-95, very central to getting around. It's very clean, no bugs (my pet peeve). Awesome staff, delicious breakfast. Utilize Trip Advisor and read the reviews..they're spot on. Have fun!

Default Thanks!

Thanks for the helpful replies. I was looking on Trip Advisor and Huey's On The River peaked my interest. Would that be a short drive from I-95? Anybody have a review?
Appreciate the assistance. This will be the first stop in Savannah for us, so we're coming in blind!

Sorry about that. I thought the entrance off of MLK was direct to 95. My error.

If you do not mind a half hour drive from 95, you could stay at any number of downtown (Bay St) hotels, and Huey's is very popular. It is an awesome spot to see container ships going down the river. It would be a shame to not at least spend an evening in Savannah, since you haven't been here.

Alternatively, you could stay near the airport right off 95 and drive downtown for dinner, which is 20 minutes away. Your choice depends upon whether you want to walk to dinner from your hotel (the cocktail factor) or drive 20 mins after dinner back to your hotel.

That's perfect, gentlearts. I don't mind a half hour drive from the highway for a good sample of Savannah. And after about 12+ hours in a car, walking to a hotel after a few toddies would be welcome. We'll have a short 4 or 5 hours the next day to go, so we can sleep in a bit!!! Looks like there's a Holiday Inn Express a couple blocks from Huey's.....

Sounds like a good plan!
