The most important part of this article IMO....
Quote:
Moss predicts the creation of more jobs and more traffic along S.C. 170 after the Savannah harbor deepening is finished.

“Right now about 40 percent of folks that work at that port in Savannah come from South Carolina, which is something that most people don’t realize,” Moss said.

Moss also predicts increased land development on the Jasper County side of the Savannah River as Georgia runs out of room for distribution centers.

One such project known as RiverPort Business Park, which will consist of a warehousing and distribution centers, is already in the works in Hardeeville in anticipation of the creation of Jasper port.

While Moss doesn’t predict a direct impact on Beaufort County, he said economic growth in Jasper County will bleed over into Beaufort County.

“You’re going to see a lot more activity between here and Savannah in the future and ultimately I think we’re going to have one fairly well-developed metropolitan area,” he said.
Jasper port permit process could start by year

I'm ready for this to finally start. Once dirt gets moved over there, give it a few years and you won't recognize Jasper County.

It has been said before many times and this article says it too, but at some point, you'll see the two MSAs of Savannah-Hinesville-Statesboro and Hilton Head-Bluffton-Beaufort merge. It's not a matter of if, but when.
