A new Facebook page conspicuously popped up overnight for the Savannah Green Sox - a new professional baseball team supposedly coming to call Savannah home next year. Along with the announcement, they proclaim "A new state-of-the art baseball stadium on Hutchinson Island will be ready for the 2017 season! Get ready to enjoy Savannah Waterfront Stadium (Capacity 10,000) with picturesque views of the downtown skyline, a new marina with a bar a restaurant, party patio in the right-field, beach area in left, expanded family section, and free water taxi's to take you to and from River Street."

No team affiliation has been announced. And, by the looks of their logo, this could be one big April Fool's Day joke. If it gets the town excited about a proper downtown stadium and starts the conversation really going about a replacement team for the departing Sand Gnats, it's probably a good thing anyway...

Pretty much this. I consider myself someone who keeps their ear to the ground when it comes to Minor League Baseball and have heard nothing about any South Atlantic League teams relocating aside from Savannah (to Columbia) and Hagerstown nor any Southern League teams relocating aside from Huntsville (to Biloxi). Also looks like none of Savannah's news outlets are reporting this aside from one single radio station. Yup. April Fool's.
