Hey Savannah!

I am moving from New Jersey to Savannah in the next 90 days for work. I am looking for a place to move and I thought the best people to ask would be the ones who live there. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be great. It's just me and my cat so nothing too big...a condo/townhouse/apt would be great.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

Britney

Savannah is quite spread out. There could be some traffic problems and it would be a good idea to get something that is in the general area where you plan to work.

Try Walden at Chatham Center.

I can't tell you an exact location to look but I don't think you will have a problem finding a place at all. You are going to love Savannah. It has some of the nicest people I have ever met. I just wanted to tell you that. Good Luck and have fun!

Depends on where you work, but I'd recommend downtown Savannah (preferably north of Forsyth) to get the full flavor of the city. You'll have some good restaurants in walking distance, and it's convenient commuting to most places. There are plenty of apts / condos available for rent. Just be careful, as landlords in Sav are held to MUCH different standards than those in NJ. For example, don't expect them to repaint before you move in, and repairs are done on "southern time." Just do your homework and inspect the place carefully - regardless of where you choose to live.

Downtown is nice, but you will be able to find something with much lower rent and with a place to park your car somewhere else. The Historic District doesn't suit everyone.

Generally speaking, there are many places in the Midtown, Southside and Island areas that may be much closer to your workplace.
Also, the shopping for daily necessities like food is much easier in other area. It's not much fun to have to drive 5 miles in heavy traffic just to pick up a loaf of bread.
