Hey gang,

Coming down to Savannah for a Soccer weekend in 10 days.. are there some "must do's" or "must eat at restuarants" while we are visiting ?

Jeff

So, do you mean you're coming with kids? The most obvious things to do are to take one of the trolley tours to get an overview of the historic areas. Then you must spend time exploring the riverfront shops and restaurants. It's neat to watch the huge container ships go by as you sit in one of the cafes, and there are usually sidewalk musicians there. If you are so inclined, you could go to Paula Deen's restaurant. It's a casual buffet. In the downtown area near Paula Deen's there is a lot of good shopping, too. ..Kind of depends on what you're into. If you take a ride towards Tybee Island, you'll pass Uncle Bubba's Oyster House...also very casual and a good seafood place.
I am not a native and have only been there a few times, but these are the touristy things I have done so far.

Vinnie Van GoGo's is a great Pizza restaurant in City Market downtown. Their pizza is great and you can buy it by the slice (huge slice). It's pretty cheap too. There is a local restaurant chain called Carey Hilliards. They have great fried seafood and a lot of everything else. Carey Hilliards is a great restaurant for kids.
