One would think they would have had them from the beginning....

After more than a decade of being located in the city of Savannah, the residents of the Highlands community in northwest Chatham County are getting rid of their Pooler address.

The U.S. Postal Service has agreed to change the Highlands residents’ mailing addresses so that they reflect the community’s location within Savannah’s boundaries, along with a new zip code reflecting the change.

The city has been pushing for residents to get a Savannah address for about three years to make it clear where the Highlands community is located and prevent any confusion for residents and emergency responders, said city spokesman Bret Bell.

“It’s one of those things residents have been asking for,” Bell said.

The change will be implemented on July 1, but there will be a one-year transition so that mail will still arrive using the old address during that period, he said.

Savannah Alderman Van Johnson described the pending date as “independence day from Pooler” for about 2,600 property owners in the community.

I am under the implication, as mentioned in the article, a new ZIP code will reflect the change. Will that ZIP code be 31422?

Now if we can get Bloomingdale addresses out of Effingham. We want the Studioplex to have a Meldrim address.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Meldrim isn't incorporated. Bloomingdale is.

The closest incorporated town in Effingham would be Guyton, but I think I would honestly rather have the closest incorporated town, Bloomingdale, hold down the reigns since most Effingham addresses with Bloomingdale names on them are literally right there at the line.

Bloomingdale is due for a boom at some point anyway. It'll eventually spill over into that part of Effingham.

After reading the article and googling the Highlands in Pooler, I still have no idea where they are talking about.

Meldrim and Eden are several miles away from Bloomingdale. Eden has a post office.

Isn't the whole area around Godley Station school in the Savannah city limits? I think that's what this is talking about.

According to news report today on TV there was a 911 call regarding a drowning at a pool and the caller mistakenly identified the area location as being in Godley Station in Pooler while actually they were in the City of Savannah. The confusion resulted in a delay of the EMS.
