Unfortunate for the mall. Perhaps a good business decision for bass Pro. I wonder though, in 10 or 20 years, will Pooler have the same fate, of abandoned buildings, and then perhaps Port Wentworth or somewhere else will be the new Pooler.

Mainly it's demographics and disposable income.

I really don't know why Bass Pro would go to the expense of moving when they are a destination store. Customers will go there whether its convenient or not. It's not as if, just because they're in Pooler, I will be more likely to pop in and buy a bass boat.

It would be for the exposure that exit at I-95 would give. It's the biggest interchange on the highway in this state now, and it's likely to continue to become more important as things continue to fill out in Pooler. I bet they would draw quite a few travelers who have no intentions of stopping over in Savannah.

Good point, they are a destination store. But the last time I went to the Savannah Mall, it was almost dead on a weekend, and I bet they can attract many more customers being right on I-95. And Pooler is one of the hottest communities not just in the Savannah area, but in the whole state.

That is really unfortunate. I thought they were trying to replace the Marc by Marc Jacobs stores with just Marc Jacobs. I guess Savannah is not ready yet for luxury brands. I hope another high-profile retailer take its place.

I do not know how Marc Jacobs has lasted so long, but since they have, it doesn't make sense they would bail just before B Street gets finished.

ah yes you all are probably right... and it is likely a smart business decision... I was sad, last time I went to Savannah Mall to have dinner in the food court at Saigon Bistro..to find, they were gone. I <3 taro bubble tea. News what do you mean destination mall? I am guessing activities, kind of like they are already building, like gyms, restaurants, Virginia College, etc. I like the sound of it, I wanted to try the go kart thing with some friends one time. Does sound interesting. I wonder about it being cost prohibitive if they need major structure reno though right?

Saigon Bistro closed because the owner died from a heart attack, and his lousy kids left the city so his wife had to try and watch over both locations (Waters and Sav Mall). She couldn't watch both by herself obviously so she closed it.

NOt sure if you're aware but the Go Kart place was shut down a month after it opened due to noise complaints and the smell of burning rubber from Virginia College
