We only have so many prison cells. One thing NYC did was stop prosecuting drug users and concentrate on the dealers. If the supply dries up, the users move on. We need to pick our battles and quit diluting the effectiveness of law enforcement.

The "white Republican mindset" has nothing to do with it.

No, it is a white republican mindset there is no arguing this. White democrats brag about their college education and how many mpg their prius gets. White republicans brag about their guns.

Impossible to get a legal gun in Chicago = how much violence?

Impossible to get a legal gun in London = how much violence?

seeing a pattern here?

It aint the guns... its the people... NOT the weapons

First of all, that's not a pattern.

But, I'm not here to decry the legal sale of firearms here or anywhere, really. I'm just saying, it's about education and a coordinated community effort. That effort requires that real leaders place a priority on filling vacant police force positions - for looking to increase pay to a livable wage for all officers entering the force. We need to get out into the community - offer to buy back guns off the streets. And, there are larger issues with poverty that this city council has failed so completely at solving that things are bleaker than when they took office. It's a failure of leadership before everything else - including firearm sales.

Per Tony Thomas we have 129 police vacancies and are down on a daily basis of about 150. This is a huge problem, those 150 people could all be devoted to investigations to reduce gun violence. Just a few major details going after the major players can make a huge difference.

Find me a wealthy Country with the population we have, and the same area, same diverse population, and isn't a Police State, to compare those figures to.

Even if that was close to being true, its even more a reason to have a Gun in your home to protect yourself from the Criminals that are responsible for Gun Crimes.

Sorry, Boris. More guns is not a solution to the violent crime problem we have in Savannah, Georgia.

Has nothing to do with Republicans, other than they are the only ones besides the NRA that are defending our right to have guns. I am not a Republican. I am a Gun Owner. Politics has no bearing on that. There are many more guns out there that are deadlier than an AR15, and are Hunting Rifles, and there never has been a 9mm capable of shooting an elephant bullet, whatever that is, in your mind.

More and More Guns are being sold every day, so the number of guns out there grows daily. Accept it as a fact that can not be fixed. Guns are being traded and sold every day, in the private sector among individuals. Accept it as a fact that can not be fixed. People are going to own guns, no matter what Laws are ever passed. Accept it as a fact that can not be changed. No Laws that address any of these issues are enforceable. Accept it. Police Departments all over the Country have already said they would not enforce these gun Laws. Live with it.

So far, Boris, your contribution to this conversation is to encourage more gun ownership. Is that a fair assessment of your solution to the problem, or are you just here to skew the conversation away from productivity?
