My wife and I are flying to Savannah next week to look at real estate and try to narrow down our search for housing. I will be working in the Rincon area, and I would like to be closer to work than historic downtown. We have 3 small children, so safety is a key factor, as well as a good school system. What I'm really looking for is a 2-3 Bedroom apartment/townhouse in a secure complex with amenities like: a pool, workout area, clubhouse, etc.

I've found several listings in Pooler (Godley Park?)....but I don't have any way of gauging if they're "college apartments". Ultimately I'd like to be in an area with young families, young professionals, etc. Our budget would most likely be $1200-$1400 a month.

Any suggestions?

I would find a place out in Rincon and be close to work. You are looking at a 45 minute drive one way out there from Savannah due to traffic.

Rincon is small, but nothing wrong with it. I am not familiar with the apartment complexes there, but if you want to commute from Pooler, which wouldn't be bad, there are several very nice apartment complexes in the airport/outlet mall area. I don't know specifics, but they are new and seem very well maintained. Look for those on Benton Blvd too.
I believe any of these would be in the Godley Station Elementary school district, which is nicer than Pooler Elementary.
