Oh, so sorry. That really stinks.

At least you will get to see Savannah PD in action, without actually getting shot.

They have been outstanding so far. Can't say enough good things about the officer who responded or the people I've had contact with in the precinct today. Total professionals. And very sypathetic. We all know they see much worse things than car thefts daily, but you wouldn't know it from the concern they showed me. I was really upset and the officer was very supportive.

That's unfortunate to hear, News. At least you are safe. (ie it wasn't a armed carjacking) :/

No. Worse, my earlier praise of SCPD handling of the case was a bit premature. The car went missing last Monday. It took until Friday to complete the report and get it on the national stolen car database. A detective finally called me to follow up yesterday -- a week after the theft.

My insurance guy tells me that the odds of recovery after 48-72 hours are practically zero, and they plan to settle the claim as soon as the investigation is complete.

Did you lock your doors?

The only way I could see them stealing it in that case would be to bust the windows open, then hotwire the car. I never leave my doors unlocked in a public area. They will have to do some work in order to steal it.

LOCK MY DOORS?! OMG! Why didn't I think of that?! Can't believe *nobody* has even asked me that already ... like 100 times!
