This will be their first hotel in the southeast. Just another feather in the cap of fine hotels in Downtown Savannah.
Quote:
Massachusetts-based Lark Hotels will make its first entrance to the Southeastern market with a 55-room boutique hotel at the corner of Bay and Habersham streets.

The hotel will sit on the lot at 401 Habersham St. that is currently home to a laundry business which will be demolished. Additionally, two adjacent buildings to the east that face Bay Street will be remodeled and used for additional hotel and restaurant space.

The brick building immediate to the east of the dry cleaner was at one time home to a gay bathhouse / steam room / sauana (closed for many years). You can still make out the (faded) signage on the front door and and windows facing Bay Street advertising it as such. Just saying ...

The hotel will be 4 stories and less than 52 feet tall.

JUST FYI --- I shared this information because it's one of those bizarre trashy sleazy things from when downtown Savannah was a much less ... ahem ... "nice" place. For example, many people would be shocked to know that the building that currently houses CO on Whitwater Street was, at one time, an adult video store and porn shop.

^^^ALL WAY BEFORE MY TIME (thanks)
