That “downtown” Garden City development is just plain goofy.

Agreed. It’s out of place.

What's the status of the Perry Lane? When is it opening?

The Perry Lane Hotel is just about complete will open this summer. They've already started hiring people.

I’ve driven / walked past there a couple times during the past week. The public spaces are really impressive from street level. I’m excited for it to open.

Now curious when construction will start on the West Elm Hotel on Forsyth Park?

A few updates from the May 9, 2018 Historic Review Board meeting.

New renderings of 601 Indian Street which is now called The Olmsted. I like the new design.

While I think the design is an improvement over the first plan, I'm not sure if I like the placement of the parking lot and closing off President Street.

The new plan is to construct a three-story building on the southeast trust lot, rather than a two-story building at that location that also spanned President Street and the northeast lot. The proposed parking lot would be located on the northeast lot and be surrounded by a wall that would also close off President Street.

The structure design has improved, but I also agree it’s a major mistake to disrupt Oglethorpe’s original grid and close off President for a crummy surface lot. No bueno.

President Street is already closed off and has been for years, by the current buildings and the historic federal courthouse across Whitaker.
